These items are exempt from the standard size requirements, so you won’t have to pay an oversized bag fee—just any checked bag fee associated with the fare purchased (and an overweight fee for items weighing over 50 pounds). The bike must also be encased in plastic foam, a cardboard box (domestic flights only), or similar material to prevent damage. </li>\n\t<li>If bicycle and container are under 50 pounds, overweight fees will not be assessed.\n\t<ul>\n\t\t<li>Bicycles are acceptable for travel provided they do not exceed 100 pounds and are subject to overweight bag fees based on the fare option chosen. </li>\n\t</ul>\n\t</li>\n\t<li>Bicycle cases should contain bicycles only. Cases containing additional items may be subject to excess bags fees. </li>\n\t<li>Bicycles are excluded from the size guidelines (oversize fees). </li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><strong>Destination restrictions:</strong></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Bicycles are <strong>not</strong> accepted on flights to/from the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Peru and Port of Spain.  </li>\n</ul>\n \n\n<h3>Fishing</h3>\n\n<p>One item of fishing equipment—which can include 2 rods, 1 reel, 1 landing net, 1 pair of fishing boots (properly encased) and 1 fishing tackle box—count as a single checked item.</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>All fishing equipment should be packed in a hard-sided container</li>\n\t<li>Fishing poles are also allowed as a carry-on as long as they fit in the overhead bin.</li>\n\t<li>Small hooks for fly fishing or fresh water hooks are acceptable as allowed by TSA.</li>\n\t<li>Deep sea fishing hooks are only permitted in checked bags.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><strong>About spear guns</strong></p>\n\n<p>Spear Guns must be in a hard-sided container or with the tip of the spear protected to prevent damage and must be within the size and weight guidelines, or excess fees would apply. JetBlue does not allow compressed gas cylinders. If the gas cylinder cannot be removed from the spear gun, it will not be allowed.</p>\n<br />\n<h3>Golfing</h3>\n\n<p>A golf bag will count as a checked bag and may contain no more than:</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>14 golf clubs</li>\n\t<li>3 golf balls</li>\n\t<li>1 pair of golf shoes</li>\n</ul>\n \n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Golf equipment should be packed in a hard-sided container. </li>\n\t<li>JetBlue will also accept soft-sided bags but is not liable for damage to the bag or contents.</li>\n</ul>\n \n\n<h3>Snow skis & snowboards</h3>\n\n<p>One item of snow ski or snowboarding equipment will count as a checked bag. One item is defined as:</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>1 pair of skis, with 1 pair of ski poles and 1 pair of ski boots</li>\n\t<li>1 snowboard, with 1 pair of snowboard boots</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>Ski or snowboard boots, if packed separately from other equipment, must be in a snow boot bag to be considered part of the one item. Overweight bag fees apply if the combined weight of the “ski/snowboard bag and boot bag is over 50 pounds (22.68 kg).<br />\n<br />\nSki and snowboard equipment can be checked in at an airport self-service kiosk. All ski or snowboard equipment must be in a sturdy container for protection, since we do not provide ski boxes. </p>\n\n<p><br />\n<strong>Destination restrictions:</strong></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Ski and snowboard equipment are not accepted on flights to/from the Dominican Republic.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<h3><br />\nKiteboarding & windsurfing boards</h3>\n\n<p>Kiteboarding and windsurfing equipment should be in a hard-sided case to prevent damage.  </p>\n\n<p>Kiteboarding and windsurfing boards must be properly packed to prevent damage to the board, sail, boom, related equipment and to other bags. A bag may contain:</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>1 windsurfing board with an aluminum (or similar type material) wishbone style boom, 1 mast with a maximum length of 15 feet, and 1 sail count as a single checked item.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><strong>Destination restrictions:</strong></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Kiteboarding and windsurfing equipment is <strong>not</strong> accepted on flights to/from Bermuda, Haiti, Peru, Port of Spain, and Santo Domingo and Santiago, Dominican Republic.</li>\n\t<li>Kiteboarding equipment is accepted on flights to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.</li>\n</ul>\n \n\n<h3>Surfboards</h3>\n\n<p>Surfboards should be in a case designed for surfboards.</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>We recommend that surfboards travel in a hard-sided (rather than soft-sided) case to prevent damage.</li>\n\t<li>Only one surfboard per case.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><strong>Destination restrictions:</strong></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Surfboards are <strong>not</strong> accepted on flights to/from Bermuda, Haiti, Peru, Port of Spain, Santo Domingo and Santiago, Dominican Republic.</li>\n\t<li>Surfboards <strong>are</strong> accepted on flights to/from Puerto Plata and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.</li>\n</ul>\n \n\n<h3>Water skis & wakeboards</h3>\n\n<p>One item of equipment will count as a checked bag. One item is defined as one bow and quiver of arrows and maintenance kit, enclosed in a case or container of sufficient strength to protect the bow and quiver with arrows from accidental damage.</p>\n\n<p><strong>Destination restrictions:</strong></p>\n\n<p>Acceptance of archery equipment is subject to each destination’s requirements and restrictions.</p>\n \n\n<h3>Baseball</h3>\n\n<p><strong>Checked bag: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Carry-on: No (Bats)</strong></p>\nBaseball bats inside an equipment bag count as a checked bag. Individual bats are not recommended and not permitted in carry-on baggage.<br />\n \n<h3>Bowling</h3>\n\n<p><strong>Checked Bag: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Carry-on: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p>One item of bowling equipment counts as a checked bag. This could consist of a bowling ball and one pair of bowling shoes in a bag designed for this purpose.</p>\n \n\n<h3>Dodgeballs & other balls</h3>\n\n<p><strong>Checked bag: YES</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Carry-on: YES</strong></p>\n\n<p>Dodgeballs (as well as wrenches shorter than 7”) and other balls may be packed in a checked bag or carry-on. Due to air pressure changes, balls that you inflate (dodgeball, football, soccer, etc.) should be partially deflated for transport.</p>\n \n\n<h3>Drones</h3>\n\n<p><strong>Checked bag: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Carry-on: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p>A drone may count as a checked bag, or as a carry-on if it fits in the overhead bin or beneath the seat with the battery installed - see <a href=\"/help/carry-on-bags\" target=\"_self\" type=\"internal\">Carry-on Baggage Dimensions</a>.</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>A drone is considered a Portable Electronic Device (PED) and must remain in the off position for the duration of the flight to prevent accidental activation. </li>\n\t<li>Drones are generally operated on Lithium Ion/Polymer Rechargeable Batteries. Watt hours on these are the same as all other lithium ion batteries 100Wh and 160Wh and two spares may be carried as carry on when placed in a plastic bag and its terminal protected with tape. Below 100Wh there are no quantity restrictions as to the amount of batteries you can carry.</li>\n</ul>\n \n\n<h3>Hockey & lacrosse</h3>\n\n<p><strong>Checked Bag: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Carry-on: No</strong></p>\n\n<p>Up to two hockey or lacrosse sticks can be taped together and one hockey equipment bag. This will count as one item. Sticks can be taped together but must be packed separately from other equipment.</p>\n\n<p><strong>Destination restrictions:</strong></p>\n\n<p>Hockey sticks/lacrosse sticks are not accepted on flights to/from the Dominican Republic.</p>\n \n\n<h3>Hunting & shooting sports</h3>\n\n<p><strong>Checked bag: Yes (except EU, UK and Jamaica)</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Carry-on: No</strong></p>\n\n<p>Firearms, shooting equipment and related items will be accepted only as checked bags and are subject to the following conditions:</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>JetBlue prohibits firearms and ammunition to/from the EU, UK and Jamaica</li>\n\t<li>You must be 18 years of age to check a firearm.</li>\n\t<li>One piece of shooting equipment will count as a checked bag.</li>\n\t<li>Firearms must be unloaded and locked in a hard-sided container and transported as checked bags only. Only the customer should retain the key or combination to the lock.</li>\n\t<li>All firearm containers with designed lock area(s) must have a lock placed in all of the designed lock area(s).</li>\n\t<li>If there is no lock in the designed lock area(s), JetBlue will not accept the firearm for transportation.</li>\n\t<li>Pistol cases may be available for purchase by cash or credit card at any JetBlue ticket counter for a nonrefundable fee of $55. Quantities are limited.</li>\n\t<li>BB guns and air guns are also considered as shooting equipment and are subject to the same requirements and restrictions.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>One item of shooting equipment is defined as one of the following:</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>1 rifle case containing no more than 2 rifles with or without scopes, one shooting net, noise suppressors, and a small rifle tool set</li>\n\t<li>1 shotgun case containing no more than 2 shotguns</li>\n\t<li>1 pistol case containing no more than 4 pistols</li>\n</ul>\nAmmunition\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Ammunition will not be permitted in carry-on or checked baggage on international flights.  </li>\n\t<li>Ammunition must be packaged in a fiber (such as cardboard), wood or metal box specifically designed for carrying small amounts of ammunition.</li>\n\t<li>Ammunition must be housed in a separate container that is completely separate and distinct from the firearms locked box. It may be in the same checked bag as the firearms box as long as everything is packaged properly.</li>\n\t<li>Ammunition is limited to 11 pounds per customer.</li>\n</ul>\n<a href=\"https://www.jetblue.com/help/prohibited-items#prohibited-items-in-carry-on-bags\" target=\"_blank\" type=\"external\">See carry-on bag rules</a><br />\n \n<h3>Ice skates</h3>\n\n<p><strong>Checked bag: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Carry-on: Yes, but…</strong></p>\n\n<p>We recommend that ice skates be transported in checked bags in order to avoid a delay at TSA checkpoints.</p>\n \n\n<h3>Paddles & oars</h3>\nOars and paddles, taped together or in a suitable bag, count as a checked bag (as long as they meet the size and weight requirements).<br />\n \n<h3>Parachutes</h3>\n\n<p><strong>Checked bag: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Carry-on: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p>Parachutes may be checked or brought on board as a carry-on bag as long as they do not contain any type of canister or cartridge, and meet the size/weight requirements.</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Airport crewmembers may request that a parachute be unfolded in their presence.</li>\n\t<li>Customers traveling with a parachute are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the airport&#39;s recommended arrival window.</li>\n</ul>\n \n\n<h3>Pole vaulting</h3>\n\n<p><strong>Checked bag: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Carry-on: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p>Vaulting poles and javelins are accepted if they can be broken down to meet our carry-on size and weight requirements.</p>\n \n\n<h3>Scooters</h3>\n\n<p><strong>Checked bag: Yes (manual)</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Carry-on: Yes (manual) </strong></p>\n\n<p>Manual, razor-type scooters that do not have a battery and are operated solely by the rider physically pushing the scooter can count as a checked bag or be brought on board as a carry-on, as long as it meets the size requirement.<br />\n </p>\n\n<p>Traveling with a battery-powered scooter? <a href=\"/at-the-airport/accessibility-assistance/mobility-assistance\" target=\"_self\" type=\"internal\"><u>Please see our requirements for battery-powered equipment</u>.</a> <br />\n<br />\nGas powered-scooters are <strong>not</strong> accepted for transport.</p>\n \n\n<h3>Scuba & snorkling</h3>\n\n<p><strong>Checked bag: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Carry-on: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p>Regulators, buoyancy compensators, masks, snorkels and fins are all acceptable as either checked or carry-on items, as long as they meet the size and weight requirements.<br />\n<br />\nCompressed gas cylinders (whether full or empty) are <strong>not</strong> accepted for transport.<br />\n </p>\n \n\n<h3>Skateboards</h3>\n\n<p><strong>Checked bag: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p><strong>Carry-on: Yes</strong></p>\n\n<p>A skateboard or longboard will count as a carry-on or checked item, as long as it meets the size requirements.
